Sec. 27-61a-1. Definitions

As used in sections 27-61a-1 to 27-61a-3, inclusive, of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies:

(1) “Active service” means active military service in the armed forces of the United States, or full-time National Guard duty, performed by members of any reserve component of said armed forces pursuant to a call or order to such service or duty during a war or during a national emergency declared by the President or Congress of the United States;

(2) “Call or order” means involuntary or voluntary mobilization of a member of any reserve component of the armed forces of the United States to active service in support of a named military operation;

(3) “Combat zone” means a geographical area designated by an executive order of the President of the United States in which the armed forces of the United States are or have engaged in combat;

(4) “Eligible member or veteran” has the same meaning as provided in section 27-61a(a) of the Connecticut General Statutes;

(5) “Major part thereof” means fifteen or more days of a month, or fourteen or more days of February.

Sec. 27-61a-2. Application process. Payment

(a) On and after July 1, 2007, an eligible member or veteran may apply to the Adjutant General for additional pay, in accordance with section 27-61a-3 of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies, for the amount of fifty dollars for each month or major part thereof for active service by such eligible member or veteran on or after September 11, 2001. Such additional pay shall not exceed a maximum of five hundred dollars, except that such maximum shall not exceed one thousand two hundred dollars for active service in a combat zone.

(b) Eligible members and veterans shall not apply for additional pay under subsection (a) of this section later than three years after the date of the cessation of operations in which the eligible member or veteran served as determined by the Adjutant General.

(a) Eligible members and veterans applying for additional pay under section 27-61a-2 of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies shall do so with CTMD Form 2-1, “Connecticut Military Department Wartime Service Bonus Application.” CTMD Form 2-1 may be obtained via the Military Department’s website, http://www.ct.gov/mil/site/default.asp, or at the Military Department’s headquarters, 360 Broad Street, Hartford, CT 06105-3795, 860-524-4910.

(b) Eligible members and veterans applying for additional pay under section 27-61a-2 of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies shall provide supporting documentation that verifies their status as being called to, and in, active service on or after September 11, 2001. Preferred documentation is the DD Form 214, “Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.” The Military Department may accept other credible official military documentation that verifies qualifying active service in the absence of a DD Form 214 at discretion of the Adjutant General.
