Sec.1-92-23a. Reimbursement of legal expenses

  • (a) When reimbursement of legal expenses is authorized under section 1-82(c) of the Connecticut General Statutes, the request for reimbursement shall be submitted to the board within thirty days of the judge trial referee's finding (or, if the Board determines that a public official or state employee has not violated the Code of Ethics, within thirty days of such finding; or, if a court of competent jurisdiction renders a final decision that no violation has occurred, within thirty days of the time that such decision becomes final). The request shall be accompanied by an itemized bill from respondent's counsel stating:

    (1) the specific work performed by counsel;

    (2) the identity of the attorney or other person performing each task;

    (3) the amount of time, to the nearest tenth of an hour, spent on each task:

    (4) the amount of compensation sought for each task:

    (5) an itemized statement of disbursements; and

    (6) any other information helpful in determining the reasonableness of the amount of reimbursement requested.

    (b) The board, with assistance from the legal division, will review the request and forward it, with any comments deemed appropriate, to the Attorney General for a determination pursuant to section 1-82(c) of the Connecticut General Statutes.
